Youth Action Challenge: Societal Issues

Do you have what it takes what it takes to improve the lives of those in need and better support one another? Some possible areas could be support for disadvantaged groups, youth at risk, low income, special needs, and mental health.

Take part in the Youth Action Challenge (YAC) and come up with ideas to impact the future of Singapore. The YAC is part of the SG Youth Action Plan and is designed to support youths to influence policy change and start ground-up initiatives. You will have a chance to pitch your ideas to government leaders and industry experts, and best ideas stand a chance to receive up to $50,000 in grants in a finale in April to turn them into reality.

Through the Challenge, you can team up with other youths to learn more about societal issues and hone your ideas under the guidance of experienced mentors and industry professionals. But it’s not just talk. Teams with good ideas will receive support to see their projects through to implementation.

About Spark the Next: SG Youth Action Plan

On 18 May 2019, over a hundred youths from different walks of life came together to envision Singapore in 2025. It also kicked off the series of engagements under the SG Youth Action Plan. Over the last 3 months, we have heard from youths their vision for Singapore, what is missing today and how can we get there. We have seen emerging themes such as environmental sustainability, mental health, inclusiveness, caring for those in need and economic prospects that sparked spirited conversations. We are happy that youths are keen to make a difference in society.

The SG Youth Action Plan is an extension of the youth Conversations which gathered views from more than 8,000 youths on issues that matter to them last year. From the conversations, many youths have expressed a desire to be involved – be it in defining what success in Singapore should look like, having a say on important policies, or taking action to make a change for social good. We have planned a series of sessions for you to join us and have a say in the future of Singapore!
