The Citizens on Patrol (COP) scheme started in 1999 and has grown to be a sizeable force. Our members are now familiar figures in the neighbourhood. The primary role of COP members is to conduct patrols and alert the Police when they observe suspicious activities or persons loitering within their community. The COP members may also raise crime prevention awareness in their respective communities by distributing crime prevention pamphlets and offering crime prevention advice to residents during their patrols.
Terms of Service
COP members are appointed on a three-year term and are expected to perform a minimum of 2 hours of patrol per month.
COP members undergo minimum 1.5 days of basic training on crime prevention, SGSecure knowledge and community emergency preparedness. Members will be equipped with first aid skills and trained to conduct crime risk survey amongst others, to prepare them for their roles.
Upon the completion of their basic training, COP members are posted to their nearest Neighbourhood Police Centres where they may conduct patrols in groups of 4, within the vicinity of their NPC.
The COP scheme is open to all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, of 17 to 80 years old. If you are keen to contribute to the safety and security of your community, simply fill up the registration form and join us today!
