Despite COVID-19, it has been a fulfilling year for the Singapore Standards Council (SSC) and Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) in their endeavours to strengthen the Quality and Standards infrastructure in Singapore. Jointly organised by the SSC, SAC and Enterprise Singapore, the Quality and Standards Partners Appreciation Event 2021 is intended to show appreciation to our SSC and SAC partners for their tremendous contributions to and support for Singapore’s Standards and Accreditation programmes.  

The virtual event will also feature an industry sharing and panel discussion about domestic and international developments in Quality and Standards developments which support business resilience, resource sustainability and the growth of emerging areas. Join us to gain insights on how Quality and Standards will continue to support Singapore enterprises in the next phase of transformation and growth.

Dr Shu Yinbiao
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) & 
China Huaneng Group (CHNG)
Dr Shu Yinbiao became IEC President on 1 January 2020, for a three-year term, having served as President-Elect since 1 January 2019. Prior to that, Dr Shu served as Convenor of the Market Strategy Board (MSB) from June 2012 until the end of 2018 and IEC Vice-President from 2013 to 2018 with the specific responsibility of leading both the MSB membership renewal and its technology-watch effort. At present, he is Chairman of the China Huaneng Group and is also a senior member of IEEE. He has long devoted to management and research on power planning, construction and dispatching, large-grid control, UHV grids, smart grids, renewable energy development, and international business. His former positions include: President, State Grid Construction Company; Executive Vice-President and President, State Grid Corporation of China.

Ms Hanane Taidi
Director General
TIC Council 
Ms Hanane Taidi was appointed Director General of TIC Council in June 2019, having been Director General of IFIA since July 2016. She currently represents the Testing, Inspection and Certification Industry, a sector that provides independent conformity assessment around the world with a combined revenue of over €30 billion euros and over 400,000 employees.
Previously, Ms Taidi worked at DuPont de Nemours International as Marketing Communications Director for the Performance Polymers business. During this time, Ms Taidi led, developed and directed integrated marketing communications strategies and was a member of the regional leadership team. 
Before joining DuPont, Ms Taidi was Director of Communications at PlasticsEurope, from where she led PlasticsEurope’s communications efforts in Europe together with a team of regional Communications Managers. In addition to her role as Director of Communications, in 2014, Ms Taidi has been appointed by The European Commission, DG Research & Innovation, as Rapporteur for the Expert Group who developed recommendations on Systemic Eco-innovation and is a visiting lecturer on public affairs, crisis communications and change management at the Institute of European Studies (ULB) and Quadriga University (Berlin). 

Dr Winston Chow
Associate Professor, School of Social Sciences
Singapore Management University
Dr Winston Chow is an Associate Professor of Science, Technology and Society and Basket Coordinator for Technology & Society at the Singapore Management University. His research interests include urban vulnerability to climate change, urban heat island science, impacts and mitigation, sustainability in urban climatology and perceptions of environmental and climate change in tourism. He is a Principal Investigator for the Cooling Singapore initiative, and was recently selected by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to be a Lead Author for their Cities chapter in the Sixth Assessment Report on Climate Change due in 2021. He enjoys talking and writing about these research issues, and he tweets sporadically on many topics (unrelated to climate change) at @winstontlchow.
Mr Marc Allen
Technical Director
Mr Marc Allen is an experienced chemical engineer with close to 20 years’ experience – and 10 years working directly in energy, greenhouse gas management and climate change strategy. Throughout his career, Mr Allen has provided advice on energy and climate change strategy to some of the biggest companies in the world – particularly in the resources industry. His technical skills, strategic thinking and outstanding understanding of climate change policy issues, risks and opportunities make him an invaluable asset to clients. Mr Allen is also the Co-Chair of SIngapore Standards Council's National Mirror Committee to ISO TC 323 Circular Economy, overseeing the development and adoption of circular economy standards in areas such as framework and principles for implementation, guidelines on business models and value chains, measuring circularity frameworks and performance-based approach.
Ms Foo Peng Er

Vice President, Corporate Sustainability
CapitaLand Group
Ms Foo Peng Er is Vice President, Corporate Sustainability in CapitaLand Group, one of Asia’s largest real estate companies. Her work experience include sustainability management and reporting, environment, health & safety management system, corporate marketing, media and event management, policy formulation and market development. She spearheads the publication of the CapitaLand Global Sustainability Report, providing transparency to the group’s environmental, social and governance performance. She also works closely with the various strategic business units in the CapitaLand Group to implement the CapitaLand EHS Management System which is globally audited externally to ISO 14001 (environmental management) and OHSAS 18001 (occupational health and safety) standards. In addition, Ms Foo is an elected board member of the Singapore Green Building Council, and a member of the GRESB Benchmark Committee, the Workplace Safety and Health Council’s Construction & Landscape Committee and PUB’s Water Network 7th Panel, as well as a member of the Working Group on Anti-bribery Management (SS ISO 37001:2016).

Ms Khoo Gek Hoon 
Director, Capability Development, Industry Development & Community Partnership Division
Singapore Food Agency
Ms Khoo Gek Hoon holds a Master degree in Science (Botany) from the National University of Singapore in 1998. She also holds several professional certificates in auditing. She is certified by IOIA as an inspector for organic farm production and organic processing in 2008, and a lead Auditor for ISO 22000 by IRCA in 2006 and has obtained training in HACCP and EurepGAP/ GLOBALGAP standards etc. After her graduation, Ms Khoo started off as a Senior officer in National Science and Technology Board, now known as A*STAR. She joined the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) since 2000, and is very much involved in Standards and Conformity in the agri-food and food sector in her last 20 years of service in Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) and now Singapore Food Agency.

As AVA’s Senior Officer, she was in involved in developing and promoting agri-technology and farming standards to support the agri-food industry development in Singapore. In 2004, she developed the first national Good Agricultural Practice Standard and Certification Scheme for local vegetable farms and was involved in the development ASEAN Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) standard, as well as the ASEAN Organic Agriculture Standard for the ASEAN region. She was also the Senior Consultant and Auditor of Agrifood Technologies Pte Ltd, an AVA’s subsidiary arm, which developed two On-farm Quality Assurance Programmes in 2008 for agri-food retailers 1) Good Agronomic Practices (GAP) Certification of TCM Herbs for Eu Yan Sang, and 2) NTUC Fairprice Organic Assurance Programme for Pasar Organic. As the Director of Harvest Technology Department in AVA from 2010 to 2018, she has helped to develop and promote the Singapore Standard for cold chain management of vegetables, Technical reference for Cold Chain management of frozen fish and seafood and the regional guidelines on Traceability system for aquaculture products and cold chain management for fish and fishery products. Currently, she is the Director of Capability Development Department in SFA overseeing the development and promotion of agri-food and food standards. She has led the development of the Singapore farm sustainability standard - Singapore Standard 661: Specifications on Clean and Green Urban Farms – Agriculture which was just launched on 25 Mar 2021. She is also the Co-chair of the Technical Committee of Food Production under the Food Standard Committee of Singapore Standard Council.

General Manager

Mr Seth Wang currently serves as the General Manager of Control Union Singapore and Peterson Projects & Solutions Singapore and is managing the certification and consultancy business divisions. He is also responsible for the marketing and business development activities in Asia and the Pacific regions. He has over eight years of experience in the TIC industry and has in-depth knowledge of various sustainability certification programs such as environmental, social, traceability, agriculture, aquaculture, sustainable tourism, etc.
